It’s Not Your Time

Picture Worth Your Words Contest   Picture Prompt # 1

Baby, It’s Not Your Time

by Christine Smith-Johnson

Baby, I am here

Can’t you feel me this time

I am here with you

Always with you

You have to believe

You have to know

I feel your heart beating

Every second of every day

I hear your mind racing

When you think of me

I dry your tears when they spill

I have anger to

I feel your weakness

Let me comfort you

Can’t you feel me push you back

Do not do this

You are strong

You’re not ready to come home

Baby, I am here

Do you know I am here

Tell me you know I am here

You have to hold on

I know you long to be with me

I am not really gone

Baby, it’s not your time

I know you love me

You know I love you

You are my very soul

Stop this madness

Stop looking up

Look at me

Can’t you see me with your heart

Feel me with your heart

You have to feel me

I know you died with me

Everything changed

You are not alone

I am here, baby

I am always here

I know you hurt

I feel your pain

I have mine to

But these are not my tears

It’s only rain

Do you hear when I whisper to you

My heart was ripped out to

I see you cry

I hear your sighs

I would give anything to come back for you

I am lost without you

I miss you to

I will come back for you

When it’s your time

I am still your love

You are still my life

I will NEVER stop thinking of you

I will NEVER stop helping you

Please wait a while longer

I am waiting for you

I will always wait for you

Stop rushing this

Please take your time

Baby, It’s Not Your Time!

It was mine…

  7. what a poem! absolutley beautiful and brings out the true beauty of the poem. something like this was churning in my mind too then my muse went hibernating. i will be there next time.

    • Thank you so much. I would love to go back and change a few lines that bother me, but I am leaving it the way it is. This one was very emotional for me, as I tuned into my husband’s mind while writing it.

I do hope to see you next time. I hope you are having a great weekend!

  8. Oops! I found it too … Probably I need to change my contact lenses and get a pair of new eyes too 😀

Thank you dear for writing this poem, reading it was a gift full of emotions and love ..

And thanks for you kind words too, I always stick to the reality side to write what I feel and see, and this time I had to imagine more and thank GOD I made it! From now on I’ll try to widen my imagination 🙂

    • Lol Parry! Don’t feel bad, I wear them to.

Thank you so much. I had no idea how it would turn out, and I really would like to change a couple of lines that bother me, but I won’t.

Wow, widening your imagination….I would love to see that. I already think you are very talented.

  9. I wrote a comment but I don’t know what happened to it!
    Anyway, I’ll write again
I’m speechless!! This is a wonderful piece of art, very touchy and emotional view from the Angel’s mind… All the best to you Christine 🙂

  10. works very nice for a song 😀 nice words and they describe the picture as well 🙂
so, here’s the link to my entry 🙂
    hope y’all like it 🙂

    • Hi Ahmad! Thank you so much! You know, I never thought of it as having a lyric effect until I read your comment. I went back and re-read the poem. I can see it. 🙂 It would need some tweaking though.

I read your poem and I love the fact that cold and bleeding hands made you long for gentler hands. When I first looked at the picture you chose, my mind felt jumbled, like the hands. The first one definitely called out to me!

Thank you for your support and kind words.

  11. Loved it! I had shivers when I read what you wrote here, Christine.
It’s the kind of words that enters the heart in a blink of an eye, so honest and sincere, plotting an amazing story behind it ..

Wish you all the best in the contest 🙂

    • Awe, Thank you Parry! I also had shivers when I was writing it, and a lump in my throat. You are so kind and I am glad you caught the honest and sincere emotion of it. I imagined how my husband would speak to me, as he was the angel. I wish now I could change a couple of lines, but for the sake of the contest, I won’t. 🙂

I wish you would have written one. I think you would have put a twist on it like no other. You are very imaginative! Thank you for the encouragement and sweet words.

  12. Simple, succinct and moving. I had a huge loss in my life last year and still have not come out of it. Hope the faith you carry heals your life.

    • Hi Aromeister! I am so sorry for your loss. I promise you, it is okay to take your time and heal in your own way. Too many people make us feel we should be better in a year. A year to me only seemed like a few months. My situation did not stop the day he died, I went into one shock after another. Then when I thought I was moving forward, I was spiraled back again by other events. I am not sure what you are going through, but I hope you will eventually find what makes you feel better and I pray for peace in your heart.

Unfortunately, a year is a very short amount of time, when it comes to grieving a massive loss. I wrote an article to all widows, that touches a little on the timeline of healing. I don’t think some of us ever wake up feeling completely healed. I think we learn ways to cope and breathe again.

You will definitely be in my prayers and if you ever want to talk or compare “symptoms” or whatever we call it 🙂 I am here. I can also recommend some other links that are great on rationalizing the things we feel. They will make you say ahhhh, so I am normal…

Thank you for your sweet words! I hope to talk to you again.

  13. I’m amazed by the creativity in your poetry, loved the story as well. It’s very close of the short story I told! best of wishes.

  14. Nice! Now i see another perspective to the picture 🙂 I could feel the desperation in the angels voice, lovely!

    Stealer is

    “Please take your time

    Baby, It’s Not Your Time!

    It was mine…”

Good luck for the contest 🙂

  15. Thank you Christine for sharing yourself in this blog, your honesty is admirable and beautiful, I shall share this blog with my sister, also a young widow of two children 6 and 9 and I believe she will find inspiration in what you are doing with your writing!

    • Awe…Thank you Ann for your sweet words. It has definitely been a long road.
I am so sorry your sister is experiencing this and I hope to hear from her.
I can give her other sites that are very resourceful, sites I have run across that helped me.
It is so nice to meet you!

  16. Wow. This content is giving me so many goosebumps. Every entry makes me see the different side of the picture.

That was beautifully written and the perspective from the angel was taken amazingly.

Well done and good luck 🙂

    • Thank you Aisha! I am so glad you like it. I was hoping it got to you. 🙂
The words were flowing easily. If my husband could talk to me, I imagine these are the things he would say.
Although, I almost cried numerous times and had a lump in my throat, I enjoyed writing this for you.
The last line still gets me every time!
Thank you so much for your encouragement!

  17. Good luck cristine for the contest, the way u conveyed the emotions in poem are really touchy i felt the intensity of it 🙂

  18. Love it so much, and the picture is very beautiful as well 🙂
